MULA

MULA is an electrocaribbean music band female band from the Dominican Republic formed by Rachel Rojas and the twin sisters Anabel and Cristabel Acevedo, who since 2010 have been part of the Folk project, Las Acevedo.

The three girls are from the city of Santiago de los Caballeros and they meet in 2014, when Rachel Rojas finishes her studies of electronic music at the School of Music of Buenos Aires.

In 2015, they released the self-titled album MULA, with which they began to promote their project. A few months later they give their first show at the Bodega Island Fest in New York City. After this release, they travel to Cuba and Puerto Rico exposing the singles "No hay manera" and "Retumba" that later formed part of their second production, the album Aguas.

Aguas, is released in March 2017 and reaches a high popularity by the variety of fusions between genres like Synth Pop, House, Drum and Bass with Merengue, Bachata, Dembow and Dancehall. The album is considered the best album of the year by the Shock Magazine of Colombia and among the best of the New York Public Radio.

The danceable mix of their songs with lyrics that address issues of gender, politics and social activism, make the project become known in the alternative scene of Latin America and have been part of stages in Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Honduras and El Salvador . Such as the Nrmal Festival and the Sónar in Bogotá.
