Malinda Kathleen Reese, age 24, is a YouTube Star, singer, songwriter, performer, and social media personality. She has mainly garnered fame for her "Google Translate Sings" series in which she translates various songs into different languages many times, and then translates them back into English, so that the lyrics become abnormal when they are finished. Early Career[edit]

Malinda was born in New York City on the 27th of June 1994. The first few videos she uploaded to her YouTube Channel (which was then titled Malinda Kathleen Reese) showed her performances at regional theatre. These videos were generally unsuccessful. She first gained internet fame after she uploaded a video of the Disney song "Let It Go" on her YouTube Channel in 2014. This video now has over 10 million views. Later that year, she announced a new series that would be commencing on her channel, titled Google Translate Sings, where she would follow a similar process in translating songs. Later that year, she went on to translate many other songs including more Disney movies (Frozen, Mulan, Tangled, Wicked and The Little Mermaid) as well as songs from Les Misérables, and popular artists such as Lorde, Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande.

Further Success[edit]

Malinda went on to garner a more extensive following, and introducing other elements to her channel such as vlogs and Q&A's. Notable videos include where she talks to Siri using lines from her Google Translate Sings series, and also answering questions that had been put through her Google Translate system. She also uploaded original songs and covers of artists such as Kesha. Her YouTube Channel currently has over 750,000 subscribers. She also has amassed a significant following on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Patreon.

Music Career[edit]

New Channel[edit]

In August 2018 Malinda announced she would be focusing more on her original music. She renamed her initial channel Translator Fails and created a new channel titled MALINDA. On this new channel, she posts both music videos, promotion of her music, and vlogs discussing life and wellbeing. She continues uploading Google Translate related videos on her old channel.

Love Letter[edit]

On the 14th of September, Malinda released her debut EP titled Love Letter. There are 7 songs on the record, including "Not The Same", her debut single "Last First Love", "Safely", and the title track "Love Letter". She has released four of the album's songs as singles, and three are accompanied by music videos posted on her channel Malinda. These include "Surrender", "Running", and "Fearless". Her debut single does not have a music video. The album was written by Malinda and songwriter Hannah Tobias, with Malinda exclusively writing "Running" and Tobias exclusively writing "Last First Love". It was released by MKR productions.

Other Appearances and Collaborations[edit]

Malinda has collaborated with several other YouTube personalities. She has played Google Translate Trivia with Youtubers Brizzy Voices and Tessa Netting, as well as Eric and Tori from the cast of FBE's React. She has also appeared on the YouTube channels of Brizzy Voices, Tessa Netting and FBE's React. She has also collaborated with Caleb Hyles, Patrick Hinds, Bryan Hull, Jarred Halley, Johnathan Young, and Nathan Mills.

Andrew Huang Remixes[edit]

In October of 2018, Andrew Huang, a producer/remixer/DJ, asked three other DJs to remix a sample from Malinda's Running. These included JVNA, Mr. Bill and Dyalla. These three, along with Huang himself, remixed the first part of the song so tat it sounded completely different, Dyalla even changing the song from a minor key to a major key to make it more "happy". Each of these remixes are available for free. Huang did this as part of his 4 PRODUCERS FLIP THE SAME SAMPLE series that he runs on his channel.
