MamaHelpers Limited is a fast-growing Hong Kong multinational technology company that provides global network gathering foreign domestic helpers, employers and agencies. Its platforms can be accessed via mobile apps and websites. MamaHelpers allows employers to find domestic helpers by using the one-stop hiring solution.[1] Foreign domestic helpers can create their profiles, search for overseas jobs and engage in dynamic community. While at the same time, employers can have an extensive database of foreign domestic helpers. They can also connect, message and schedule an appointment with their potential employees.[2]

MamaHelpers has transformed the way people find domestic helpers. With a function that allows the users to submit employment documents directly through the app, MamaHelpers has saved the tremendous time and costs that were previously required. Employment agencies are also benefited by MamaHelpers Limited as they have full control in filtering, screening and selecting their own customers and helpers information. As a result, they can maintain better customer relationship and increase their work efficiency in one-stop tech platform.[3]

History[edit]

MamaHelpers began in October 2016[4] as a project by Yan Leung Yat-yin and Amanda So Tsz-yan when they were both enrolled in Technology Leadership and Entrepreneurship programme at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology[5]. The idea to start MamaHelpers started with TheCOVO, a global Facebook page which is used by Yan and Amanda to regularly organise small community events between local Hong Kong students and overseas immigrant workers.[2] After frequent encounters with the domestic helpers, they discovered that many employees have faced difficulties in seeking new working opportunities. They theorised about a more effective way to simplify domestic helpers hiring process. They called this new technology MamaHelpers; a one-stop app that facilitated the employment matchmaking process between employers and overseas workers.[6]

The mobile app was launched in early September 2017 and has attracted more than 200,000 users in just five months.[7] It has become Hong Kong’s first free, open helper database.[8]
