María Terremoto, real name María Fernández Benítez is a Spanish cantaora, or flamenco singer. She is the granddaughter of Fernando Fernández Monge "Terremoto de Jerez" and daughter of Fernando Fernández Pantoja "Fernando Terremoto", also cantaors.[1].
Biography[edit]
María Terremoto grew up in a musical family, and as a child participated in many flamenco zambombas[2].
Her first public appearances started around 2014 in and around Jerez de la Frontera. Her growing reputation over the next 2 years eventually led her to perform at the Palacio de Villavicencio at the Jerez flamenco festival in February 2016.
Following on from this success, she gave performances in places such as the Peñas in Huelva, Torres Macarena in Sevilla, La Niña de los Peines in Arahal, Casabermeja in Málaga as well as a number of festivals.
On 22 September 2016, she performed a recital at the "Bienal de Flamenco" festival in Seville, and was the youngest ever artist to receive the "Giraldillo Revelación" award.
In 2018 she received the "Venencia Flamenca" award from the flamenco community 'El pozo de las penas'.
2018 is also the year of her first album, "La Huella de Mi Sentío", which she subsequently promoted by performing in many cities across Spain[3][4]
