Marco Fusinato

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Marco Fusinato (born 1964) is an artist and musician whose work has taken the form of installation, photographic reproduction, performance and recording.

American art historian Branden W. Joseph has written that 'his overall aesthetic project combines allegorical appropriation with an interest in the intensity of a gesture or event'.[1]

His large-scale installations have been presented in many international exhibitions, including SUPERPOSITION: Art of Equilibrium and Engagement, the 21st Biennale of Sydney, 2018; All the World’s Futures, the 56th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, 2015; and The Imminence of Poetics, 30th Sao Paulo Biennale, Sao Paulo, 2012.[2][3][4]

His work was also featured in Soundings: A Contemporary Score, the first ever exhibition of international sound practice at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, 2013 and Sonic Youth: Sensational Fix (2008-2010) a travelling exhibition around European museums of artists that have collaborated with the NYC rock band, Sonic Youth.[5][6]

As a musician, Fusinato explores the idea of noise as music, using the electric guitar and mass amplification to improvise intricate, wide-ranging and physically affecting frequencies.[7]

His on-going series of long-duration noise-guitar performances Spectral Arrows, whereby he occupies the venue for the entire business hours was first performed at The Glasgow International Arts Festival Glasgow in 2012 and has since been performed in museums and theatres worldwide.[8][9][10] He has collaborated and performed with fellow noise-thinkers such as Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, Bruce Russell of the Dead C and Black Metal figure Striborg.[11][12][13]
