Early Life and Education[edit]

Koziatek was born in Louisiana.[7] Her family instilled in her a deep belief in serving others and speaking up against injustice.[8] When she was a child, her family travelled the world on humanitarian missions, building schools and opening prenatal clinics in Africa, Pakistan, and Nepal.[9] During that time, Koziatek and her family evacuated from Sierra Leone in the middle of a civil war.[10]

Koziatek’s mom and dad were both the first in their families to attend college. Koziatek’s father is a U.S. Army veteran and her mother is a retired caregiver.[11]

Koziatek graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California where she majored in business administration and earned a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University.[12]

Career[edit]

Koziatek is a former small business owner who founded three companies.[13] She currently leads the tutoring and enrichment department at Granada Hills Charter High School, one of the highest-performing schools in California.[14]

Through her work at Granada Hills Charter High School, Koziatek has spoken on a range of education issues.[15] She facilitated a program to give students new Chromebooks[16] and launched the school's first mobile app.[17] Koziatek manages grants to bring resources to the classroom. She has generated hundreds of thousands of additional funds for Granada Hills to support STEM initiatives and the arts.

Community Involvement[edit]

Koziatek chairs the Education Committee at the Valley Industry & Commerce Association, sits on the 38th Assembly District Education Advisory Committee,[18] and is a member of the Parent Teacher Association at her children’s public elementary school in Chatsworth.[19]
