Matera Glen Park is a playground/park located in Glenmore Kelowna at 250 glen park drive. the park covers around 0.83 hectares, with a creek running down one side.

History:[edit]

The park got its name from Dominic Matera whose family owned a welding shop on the area.[1]. Originally created as a basin to prevent floods from the creek from reaching the surrounding houses and roads, Matera Glen Park now has a basketball mini court, playground, skateboarding/bike riding area, and picnic tables[2]

Fauna:[edit]

The creek is home to many animals, including squirrels, muskrats, mallard ducks, painted turtles, small fish, robins, red wing black birds, crows, and many species of water bugs.

Flora:[edit]

Many native plants grow around in and around the park. Honey locust trees surround the outer perimeter of Matera Glen park, providing a cool shady place to sit, and lush, green grasses make up most of the field. Reeds, berry bushes, weeping willow trees, and soft mosses grow in and around the creek.

Events[edit]

Matera glen park hosts an annual park and play event. the Park and Play company provides giant sized board game, bouncy castles, music, face painting, relay races, and organized sports. Everyone who wants to come is invited, and its free to enter.[3]
