Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Matheus was born in the Brazilian city of São Paulo and grew up playing for local side Red Bull Brasil. In Early to Mid 2018, Machado left Brazil with his father, as his father been relocated for work commitments in Scotland.
Career[edit | edit source]
Upon arrival from Brazil, Machado was given a trial with Inverness Caledonian Thistle after his father approached the club, asking for a trial for him, where he impressed and was signed into their Under 18's squad on a two year deal. However, even though many Inverness fans expected him to slide right into the first team after his successful trials and training sessions, he was still in the U-18s by 2019, because he had still not managed to gain international clearance to play in the Scottish Championship. Once he had received international clearance, Machado was called up to the senior squad after impressing during a training camp trip to Turkey, and was featured on the team-sheet in a 2–1 win vs Partick Thistle, however, was on the bench for the entire game. He was once again an unused substitute the following week in a 3–2 win over Alloa Athletic.
On the final day of the season against Dunfermline Athletic, following a title winning game and scoring the winner by chipping the keeper in the U18's league against Ross County, he was again named in the subs bench, however, did not make an appearance.
The following season, he made multiple appearances in the pre-season friendlies, appearing in nearly all games played, and scoring in a 3-1 win vs St Johnstone.
