Biography[edit]

Kanjeng Ayu Adipati Matilda Chong (born as Matilda Chong Choon Mei in 3rd May 1979), is a Singaporean  entrepreneur and royal figure in Surakarta, Indonesia.[1]

After graduating from the University of London with a Bachelor of Science with a major of economics[2], Matilda Chong took her step into the world of business and entrepreneurship at the age of 21[3]. Chong then went on to venture across sectors of finance, trading, construction, port, industry, tourism and property development.

On 13 April 2018, her contributions to the socio-economic landscape in Indonesia as well as her efforts and success in helping modernise the region of Surakarta have earned her recognition from the royal court in Mataram, Indonesia. By royal decree, Chong who is currently Director of holdings company Lions of Asia (LOA)[4] and non-managing partner to private equity and corporate advisory company Dalcouth Ventures was crowned as a princess with the official title of "Kanjeng Ayu Adipati" in the court of Indonesia.[1]

Chong currently has a son Luke Alexander (born in 2007).

Partnership with Mataram Kingdom[edit]

In recent years, Chong has joined hands with the Mataram Kingdom to work on several significant projects in Surakarta to usher in a new era of economic culture and tourism programmes for Surakarta. Most notably, Chong personally spearheaded the establishment of the main airport in Surakarta. LOA’s work with Surakarta also includes the expansion of the region’s mining industry for nickel and gold as well as the development of the region’s Twin Theme Park. These initiatives are part of Mataram Kingdom’s plan to develop the sectors of tourism, culture and economy. Their objectives include stimulating economic growth to reduce inequality and unemployment in Surakarta and attracting 5 million foreign tourists by 2025.[5]

Directorship in Lions of Asia and Luke Alexander[edit]

Additionally, Chong as the role of a director also oversees operations of LOA’s subsidiaries including Orient Corporation Pte Ltd, Royal Orient Air and is currently leading one of their newer subsidiaries[4], Luke Alexander which was named after her son. Founded in 2016[6] Luke Alexander has expanded to 10 countries across four continents including USA, Italy and Dubai in 2018[7]. Both Orient Corporation and Luke Alexander are licensed to manufacture the fire extinguishing agent, HFC 227 ea.
