Mavi Veloso (born June 8, 1985) is a Brazilian performer, actress, dancer and singer.[1] Her creative process explores performativity, the relationship between performer and audience,[2] transfeminism, notions of gender, identity and sexuality approaching fashion, queer, trans and drag queen elements.[3]

Life and Career[edit]

Mavi studied Visual Arts at the State University of Londrina and was member and co-founder of the performance collective MANADA[4]. With the group she was quite active elaborating actions and performances right before Mavi moved to São Paulo in 2011. From 2012 became member of COMO clube artist platform for performance research. In 2014 she moved to Brussels to attended Post-Master school at A.PASS (Advanced Performance and Scenography Studies) and started the performance research project #iwannamakerevolution[5]. In 2017 moved to Amsterdam to attend Master of Voice at the Sandberg Instituut where she continued the #iwannamakerevolution project with focus in performativity of voice related to practices to transition the voice (voice therapy, feminization or masculinazation for transgender people).
