Maxi Schoeman
Professor Maxi Schoeman is the Professor of International Relations and Deputy Dean of Postgraduate Studies and ethics in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Pretoria.[1]
Career[edit]
Prof Schoeman holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Wales Aberystwyth and serves as an adjunct professor in the School for Public Policy at George Mason University in the United States. Prof Schoeman also serves on the Council of the University of Pretoria, as well as being the deputy chair of the board for the Institute for Global Dialogue and is a Trustee of the Institute for Security Studies.[2]
She has further held research fellowships with University of Cambridge, the Copenhagen Peace Research Institute (2001), the Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation (2009) and the Nordic Africa Institute (2009). In 2000, she joined the University of Pretoria as a professor and the head of the Department of Political Sciences.[3] Her research focuses on South African foreign policy, African peace & security as well as gender & security.
