Origins and History
Sukumar Chakravarthy, founder of Metacomp Technologies Inc., attended Iowa State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology in Madras. He completed his Master's Degree (1978) and PhD (1979) in Aerospace Engineering, while conducting a part of his research at NASA’s Ames and Langley Research Centers. After graduation, he worked at Rockwell International Science Center for 15 years, where he led the Computational Fluid Dynamics team. He has worked at Stanford University as a Research Associate and has been an Adjunct Faculty at the University of California at Los Angeles for several years. He was awarded Engineer of the Year at Rockwell in 1989 and, in 2008, was recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus by Iowa State University.[5][6]
In 1994, Dr. Chakravarthy founded Metacomp Technologies Inc. In 2007, Metacomp Technologies Pvt. Ltd. was opened in Chennai, India as a subsidiary.[7] Most recently, in 2017, Metacomp Technologies opened Metacomp Technologies Sweden AB in Stockholm, Sweden. [8][9]
Software
CFD++
CFD ++ can be used in the simulation of compressible, incompressible, stationary and transient fluids. It can model various speed regimes such as low and high subsonic, transonic, supersonic, hypersonic, laminar and turbulent flow. It uses various equations to represent situations involving incompressible flow, barotropic fluid, perfect gases, real gases, cubic equations of state, multiphase (dispersed, homogeneous, distinct) effects, cavitation effects and various thermal effects (transport of radiative energy, stationary objects, rigid body dynamics).[4][10][11][12]
CSM++
CSM ++ is a finite element based structural mechanics simulation software. It can be used to solve static or dynamic structural problems including large deformations and temperature induced stresses. CSM++ allows for multi-disciplinary analysis and gives design capabilities to engineers and scientists in the fields of science and technology. It was designed to work with CFD++, CAA++ and MIME to carry out Multi-Physics simulations involving fluid flows, acoustics, structural deformations and heat transfer.[4][10]
MIME
MIME is a mesh generation software that can be used in diverse and complex applications, internal and external fluids, in the aerospace, automotive and heavy industries. It is able to create mesh with different geometries for CFD and FEA purposes, plus combinations for multiphysical models.[4][10]
CAA++
CAA ++ is an aeroacoustics software that allows the direct prediction of aeroacoustic phenomena, with methods for near-wall fluxes, far-field propagation and dispersion of high-frequency acoustic waves. CAA + uses analytical tools, numerical solvers and modeling for sound generation. It is designed to work with CFD++ by providing the user with analytical and numerical methods to simulate the generation and transmission of sound waves through fluids.[4][10]
