The Miami–South Florida football rivalry is a college football rivalry[1] between the Hurricanes of the University of Miami and the Bulls of the University of South Florida.
History[edit]
These two universities in the state of Florida first met on the football field on October 1, 2005.[2] Miami won the game by a score of 27–7.[3] The teams met every year from 2009 to 2013, with South Florida notching its first win in the series on November 19, 2010 by a score of 23–20 in overtime.[4] The game would prove to be Miami head coach Randy Shannon's last,[5] as he would be fired the day after the game.[6] The last three contests between the schools have all been won by the Hurricanes; a 6–3 win on November 19, 2011,[7] a 40–9 blowout on November 17, 2012[8] and a 49–21 victory on September 28, 2013.[9] On May 14, 2019, the schools announced a three-game renewal of the series; a 2025 contest at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, a 2027 contest at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa and a 2028 game at Hard Rock Stadium.[10][11][12][13]
