Michael Kraus (lacrosse)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Michael Kraus (born November 26, 1996) is an American lacrosse attackman. He currently plays for the Connecticut Hammerheads of Major League Lacrosse.

Early life[edit]

Kraus was born in New Canaan, Connecticut to Steve and Kelly Krause and attended New Canaan High School.[1] While there, he was a four-year letter winner on the lacrosse team and still holds the school record with 108 points in his senior season. He was named the 16th best recruit of 2016 by Inside Lacrosse. [2]

Collegiate Career[edit]

Kraus had a very decorated career at the University of Virginia[3]. He is a three-time USILA All-American (honorable mention, second team, third team) [4][5][6]. In 2019, he was All-ACC[7] and a nominee for the Tewaaraton trophy[8] Prior to start of the 2020 season, Virginia Head Coach Lars Tiffany said of Kraus, "Michael’s dodging style is both physical and evasive. He is eager to make contact with his defenseman, but also able to slip out of holds as he maneuvers to the goal.  Comfortable with a defender draped all over him, Michael posts up as an ever-improving dual threat due to enhanced feeding skills.  This two-time captain is adroitly balancing the demands of insuring the success of the program, his teammates and his own performance." [1]

Professional Career[edit]

Kraus was selected with the second overall pick of the 2020 MLL Draft by the Connecticut Hammerheads.[9] Shortly after, the Hammerheads announced Kraus had signed a two-year contract.[10]
