Michael Sagner

Michael Sagner (born 16 May) is a Swedish medical doctor, surgeon, sports medicine and preventive medicine specialist. He is a certified strength and conditioning coach as well as a certified sports nutritionist. Sagner is the current president of the European Society of Preventive Medicine (ESPREMED).

Sagner is a multidisciplinary scientist and a member of the board of directors of the International Society for P4 Medicine, which is dedicated to applying systems medicine in clinical practice. He is a partner of the CERN openlab and the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Health Aging, a European information and communication hub for all actors involved in active and healthy ageing.

Sagner is considered to have a significant influence on The P4 health spectrum model[1] and the ‘cell to community’ approach in preventive medicine,[2] which aims at connecting basic research, clinical medicine and public health to address chronic disease. He is the editor-in-chief of the peer-reviewed journal Progress in Preventive Medicine.[3] He has a published academic book on "Lifestyle Medicine"[4]
