From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Michele McLaughlin is an American pianist and composer based in Salt Lake City, Utah. McLaughlin has released seventeen albums and her music can be heard on Whisperings Solo Piano Radio, Pandora Radio, iTunes Radio, Spotify, XM/Sirius and Music Choice Soundscapes...[1]. She is a Billboard charting artist, with her album Undercurrent debuting at #5 of the New Age Billboard Charts[2]. In addition McLaughlin performs and tours regularly and operates her own in-home concert series[3]

Early Musical Inspiration[edit]

McLaughlin began playing the piano at an early age and developed her ear by learning the songs she sang in her kindergarten class, playing them back for the class during show-n-tell[4]. By the age of eight she was teaching herself compositions by the American pianist George Winston[5]. Her inspirations include Jim Brickman, Paul Cardall, David Nevue, Ben Folds, Missy Higgins, Joshua Radin, Tori Amos, Indigo Girls and Sarah McLachlan[6]

Musical Philosphy[edit]

McLaughlin, a self-described "musical storyteller"[7], approaches music as an "emotional energy" that she strives to project to her listeners[8]. Her compositions have placed her on the Top Ten New Age Charts[9] and made her a bestseller on iTunes and Amazon[10]. Bill Binkelman, Wind & Wire and Zone Music reporter, calls McLaughlin a "heart on her sleeve" composer who "presents her emotional intent of a song forthwith and front and center"[11]
