Mii (Japanese: ミィ, Hepburn: Mii) (Pronunciation: /m/, amongst others[citation needed]) is the divine heroine of the 1997 original video animation series Jungle de Ikou!. She symbolises fertility and maternal power.[citation needed]

Transformation[edit]

Mii is an ancient goddess who appears in the course of Jungle de Ikou! as the transformation of Natsumi Rokudo (六道那柘美, Rokydō Natsumi), a 10-year-old girl. She was gifted by her father, an archæologist hailing from distant lands, an old artefact. Rokudo, as she did not like the artefact, removed some jewels from it to into earrings them create. She sleeps whilst wearing the earrings so created, and is visited in her dreams by Ahem, an ancient god, who informs her that she was released Ongo, an evil spirit-god symbolic of destruction. Ahem then bestows upon Rokudo a necklace of skulls, and shows her a dance that allows her transform into Mii.[citation needed]

Role[edit]

Rokudo first transforms into Mii in Ongo, the first episode of the series. Ongo, seeking more whale meat, transports a whale to the centre of town, which he and Rokudo are then trapped on. Rokudo chooses to tranform, and with the new-found magic of Mii, is able to fly the whale back to the ocean, guarded by a shield of petals. In Rongo, the second episode, she tranforms into Mii to battle Rongo, a spirit-goddess of water which took over the body of Nami Kuki (九鬼奈美, Kuki Nami), a friend of Rokudo's acquaintance. A spell cast by Ongo enables Mii to defeat Rongo, turn her into a weaker forme that cannot utilise more powerful magic, and separated her from Kuki. Mii and Ongo allow Rongo to stay with them in Japan, as Rongo is no longer able to return to her traditional home. In the final episode, Mii, Ongo's destructive potential is unleashed, which forces Kuki and Rokudo to transform into their divine forms. Ongo, who is now on a kaiju-forme rampage through Tokyo, attempts to crush Mii and Rongo. They manage to escape in a moment, and are contacted by Ahem. He tells Mii that she can defeat Ongo's destructive forme if she listens to the people of Tokyo, and absorbs the power of their hope to see Ongo destroyed. Mii then grows to the size of Ongo, and Mii is injured. Mii eventually takes advantage of her maternal power to subdue the evil within Ongo; the evil escapes, and is subsequently slain by Ahem. Thus are the characters able to live on peacefully.
