Mikaele Tapili

Mikaele Tapili (born 15th October 1996 in Motootua Hospital) is a Samoan rugby union player for Aana Chiefs in the SRU Super 9 National Competition. He plays as a Lock/Loosie.

In 2015 he played in the U20s Junior World Cup held in Italy at the age of 18. Samoa U20s were relegated to the Junior World Trophy (JWT) for 2016. In 2016, he debut for Samoa-A as a Lock in Suva Fiji against Japan-A. Later that same year he made 4 appearances in the Junior World Trophy in Zimbabwe where Samoa U20s won in extra time to be promoted back into the Junior World Cup the following year.

His impressive form on the field lead to a selection for the Samoa 10s-a-side that played in the Global Brisbane 10s. He was then selected into the Pacific Rugby Trophy in Fiji March 2017. In October the first ever Americas Pacific Cup was held in Uruguay which he made 3 appearances against America XV, Argentina XV, & Tonga-A.

The restructured Pacific Rugby Cup in Fiji (Under 23) March 2018 lead to Mikaele and nine Samoa Rugby Union players being selected into a first ever World Rugby Combine Pacific Island Team made up of the three Pacific Island teams (Samoa, Fiji Tonga).

He is again selected to represent Samoa A in the 2018 Americas Pacific Cup held in Uruguay. Upon the completion of that tour he will attend another World Rugby Combine camp in USA.
