Career[edit]
Millie Kendall MBE began her career in the beauty industry early, age 13, as a shampoo girl at the Michael john salon in Beverly Hills. Forging an initial career in the hair industry, she continued her time at Toni & Guy in London before moving to New York to work for Bumble & Bumble.
Her experience with beauty retail led to her heading up Shu Uemura in the US and running the brand’s European roll out in 1990.
In 1994, Millie launched her own PR agency helping to bring Aveda to the UK market, followed by brands including Tweezerman, L’Occitane, Oribe, Stila and Aesop.
Alongside make-up artist Ruby Hammer, Millie launched Ruby & Millie in 1998 in Harvey Nichols then Selfridges and retailing in Boots.
On Millie's return to London in 2009, she reconnected with Anna-Marie Solowij, the former Beauty Editor of British Vogue. Kendall and Solowij partnered to launch the first beauty boutique in store and online, BeautyMART.
In 2015 Kendall launched the PR company BRANDstand Communications with long term business partner Anna-Marie Solowij and Sarah Guild.
Kendall now holds the role of CEO on the recently launched British Beauty Council, which she co-founded with Anna-Marie Solowij and Kate Shapland in 2017. The British Beauty Council is a new and independent industry body that exists to raise the profile of the beauty industry. Millie Kendall holds the role of CEO on the executive board.
Awards & recognition[edit]
In 2007, Kendall was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2007 New Year Honours for her contribution to the cosmetics industry.
Personal life[edit]
Millie resides in High Gate with her two daughters, Sadie Bailey (born 1997) and Lucia Peragine (born 2006).
