Miracle in the Desert: The Rise and Fall of the Salton Sea
Miracle in the Desert: The Rise and Fall of the Salton Sea is a feature-length documentary film completed in 2020 and directed by Greg Bassenian. Miracle in the Desert chronicles the origins of the creation of The Salton Sea in 1905 as well as the current environmental challenges that it faces as it begins to rapidly dry. The film includes interviews with locals citizens as well as state and city-level officials involved in the current efforts to mitigate and/or restore The Salton Sea.
The film won the Best Documentary Prize at the Borrego Springs Film Festival and was accepted to The Newport Beach Film Festival, SFDocFest, and the American Documentary and Animation Film Festival (AMDOCS).
The film is slated to be released publicly in September 2020.
