Introduction[edit]

Uttarakhand state in India is a hilly state comprising of two divisions known as Kumaon and Garhwal. There are many hill stations and towns in these areas and some of them are famous for their natural beauty and view of Himalayan ranges. Mostamanu is one such place in Pithoragarh which comes in Kumaon division.

Mostamanu temple[edit]

Mostamanu is a temple of Lord Shiva situated in the Chandak area of Pithoragarh District in the state of Uttarakhand in India. The name of local deity on which this temple is based is ‘Manu’. It is about 7 km from Pithoragarh town and situated at an altitude of about 6000 feet as against that of the 5000 feet of Pithoragarh town. This is one of the popular spots in Chandak area. The annual Mostamanu fair held during the month of August is very popular among the locals and a huge gathering of people and small vendors takes place at that time. Many business people bring their merchandise here to sell to the prospective buyers.

There is one long swing about 20 feet where one person can ride at one time. This old swing is very popular among the locals.
