Mothership is a Singaporen internet media company founded in 2014, The company is modelled on BuzzFeed and produces similar content localized for Singapore. Excutive director Lee We King described the aim of the website as "to reach out, rally and organise not just young people, but all Singaporeans, to action that will benefit their various communities". [2]
The website is one of the 11 websites that have registered with the Info-communications Media Development Authority and allegations have been raised of goverment-backing of the company[3]. The new platform primarily publishes articles commenting or drawing attention to phenomena in social media, with much of their reporting focusing on events occurring on the internet.
