The Diocesan Museum of Mantua (in Italian: Museo diocesano di Mantova) is an art museum in Mantua housing a permanent collection of sacred artworks, especially from Mantua and the Gonzaga’s Duchy.
Originally conceived in 1974 as a vehicle to protect and promote the art collection of the Diocese of Mantua, the museum was established in 1983 in the ancient Saint Agnes monastery of the Augustinian friars .
The museum is titled to Francesco Gonzaga, OFM and Roman Catholic prelate who served as Bishop of Mantua (1593–1620).

The art collections[edit]

The museum exposes artworks from the Mantua Cathedral, the Basilica palatina di Santa Barbara, from the territory of Mantua and from many private collections.
It is organized in many exhibition sections as Ancient pictures gallery, Treasure, Armor, Tapestries, Pottery and Contemporary art.
