Mycelia (band)
Mycelia is a Swiss Progressive Deathcore/Djent band from Zurich. Formed in 2010, the band has released four studio albums.
History[edit]
Early Years (2010-2013)[edit]
Mycelia was founded in 2010, by guitarist Mike Schmid and drummer Marc Trummer, who were shortly after joined by singer Marc Fürer and bassist Roy Sonderegger. After two online EPs, the band released their first studio album ISOLATOR in 2012.
NOVA (2013-2014)[edit]
In 2012/2013 Mycelia's first studio album was recorded and mixed as well as mastered by Clawfinger's Jocke Skog.
OBEY, signing with Wormholedeath Records (2015–2017)[edit]
In 2015, Mycelia signed with Wormholedeath Records to release their third studio album, OBEY, planning to set a new quality standard for the Swiss metal scene while breaking into international markets. OBEY was Mycelia’s first record to reach the band’s Asian fans through its release in Japan, among other countries. In the wake of OBEY, Mycelia’s line-up was further improved with the joining of guitarist/vocalist Mike Fuller and bassist Eugen Wiege.
DAWN, signing with Eclipse Records (2016–present)[edit]
After a successful live period, Mycelia focused on their next studio record. During the recording, singer Marc Fürer fell ill and had to take a break from singing altogether. The vocal recordings were finished by Lukas Villiger, who ended up joining the band as a permanent member in 2016.
Mycelia’s fifth studio album, DAWN, was self-released by the band in January 2017, garnering both commercial and critical success. In 2018, Mycelia signed with Eclipse Records for the release of their upcoming sixth album, APEX.
