Early Life[edit]

Murphy was born on September 8, 1989, in Akron, OH. Stemming from his parent's divorce in 2002, he started a clothing line at the age of 13, in effort to help support his mother and himself financially. He gained a lot of media press for his business; was featured in numerous newspapers, magazines and is now featured in an educational textbook: "Civics today: citizenship, economics & you", Glencoe, 2008, teaching young students how to become an entrepreneur in today's world.

Murphy received a full scholarship to play basketball at Northern Michigan University, where he spent 5 years working towards his undergraduate and Master's degrees. He obtained his bachelor's degree in 2012 and his master's degree in 2014.

Basketball[edit]

Coming out of high school, Mylan was ranked among the top 300 basketball recruits in the nation. He was recruited by Baylor University, Boston College, University of Missouri, North Carolina State University and many other Division I schools. One week before his official visit to Baylor, Murphy suffered a broken tibia injury that forced him to lose out on all of his Division I offers; he then signed his national letter of intent with Northern Michigan University, in Marquette, Michigan.

Murphy successfully played two seasons for the Wildcats, where he served as a team captain his second year. After ending his second (and last) season for NMU, with a knee surgery, he decided to step away from basketball and take on the challenge of finishing his undergraduate degree a year early.

Career[edit]

In 2012, Murphy was named 1 of 30 students, in the country, selected for the United States Olympic Committee F.L.A.M.E. Program (Finding Leaders Among Minorities Everywhere). That program led to him receiving an internship opportunity with the USOC during the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games. After serving his internship, Mylan developed numerous business relationships where he worked himself back to Colorado Springs, when he was asked to work the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games. He served as the remote contact in the United States, updating the TeamUSA website and mobile application platforms.

Upon completing his Master's degree at NMU, in Marquette, Michigan, he decided to move back to Ohio and start his digital media company full time. Since he made that decision, he has achieved much success with his digital media work in numerous industries. He takes pride in being able to work across the country, including working in 2 other countries, outside of the USA. Murphy's recent work has been featured in the 2018 Nike 30th Anniversary commercial campaigns. He now is entering into his 5th year running OriginTD Innovative Digital Media.

Personal Life[edit]

Mylan is married to his wife, Libby Murphy and has a son, Braxton. His brother, Mike is currently a sergeant for the Akron Police Department. He gives credit to his Mother, Terri for raising him to be the person that he is today.
