Nahuel and the Magical Book (Nahuel y el Libro Mágico) is a 2020 Chilean-Brazilian Animated Film and premiered in Annecy International Animation Film Festival in Annecy, France on June 15 and it's created by the director, Germán Acuña.

Premise[edit]

Young Nahuel tries as best he can to help his father, a fisherman, but is very afraid of the sea. The two live together in a fishing village on a bay and have a rather cool and distant relationship with each other. Nahuel thinks his father is disappointed in him because of his fear of the sea. At some point, Nahuel discovers a book that promises to solve his problems. However, it turns out that the book is magical and is sought after by the ambitious magician Kalku. Kalku separates Nahel and his father during a raging storm. An adventure then begins for Nahuel that leads him through his deepest fears.

Cast[edit]

Consuelo Pizarro as Nahuel, a protagonist who's afraid of the sea, and he's the one who stole the Levisterio to solves his fears, but then his father got kidnapped by Kalku and the quest begins to rescue his father and overcome his fears.

Muriel Benavides as Fresia, a Mapuche girl who shelters helps Nahuel to find his father.

Marcelo Liapiz as Kalku, a sorcerer who kidnaps Nahuel's father and the main antagonist of the series.

Sandro Larenas as Elzaino, a fisherman and the father of Nahuel.

Sebastián Dupont Gallardo as Ruende, a talking wolf which he wanted revenge on Kalku.

Vanesa Silva as Huenchur, one of the recoverers that saves Nahuel.

Production[edit]

This film was co-produced by Brazilian animation studio Levante Filmes and the Chilean animation studio Punkrobot Studio. The writer of the script in the film were Germán Acuña, Juan Pablo Sepúlveda who they wrote together. The music composers were Felicia Morales and Christopher Carvajal, and the animators of the movie were Enrique Ocampo and Rosemary Martinez[1]. The film was postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic to November
