Natural Resources and the Environment Committee (Georgia Senate)

The Senate Natural Resources and the Environment Committee is an 11 member legislative body consisting of a chairman, a vice-chairman, a secretary, and eight members. The Committee operates under a Senate mandate to regulate all aspects of procurement and use of natural resources throughout the state and the impact such activities have on the environment.[1]

Scope and jurisdiction[edit]

The Senate Natural Resources and the Environment Committee has jurisdiction over energy resources and development. This includes industry-wide regulation on issues of conservation, use and maintenance of strategic reserves, and for standards of use of public lands and their renewable resources. The scope incorporates any surface mining operation, coal mining, oil and gas mining and exploration, all aspects of mineral leasing, and the regulation of the state's water resources.[1]
