Nehru (1985)[edit]

Nehru (1985) is a documentary film directed and co-written by Shyam Benegal and Yuri Aldokhin, and narrated by Saeed Jaffrey.[1] It was initially released in 1982, won the 1984 National Film Award for Best Historical Reconstruction,[2] and was released internationally in 1985 as "Pandit Nehru."

A first person biography of Jawaharlal Nehru with narration sourced entirely from Nehru's own writings and speeches, the film is divided into three parts and catalogs the evolution of Nehru from his birth and through his life.[3]

The narration draws from Nehru's books The Discovery of India and Letters from a Father to his Daughter.
