First licensed in California in 2012, Loncar has served as the principal of the Law Offices of Nicholas Loncar, handling primarily criminal defense matters and asset seizure recovery.[1][2][3]
Personal life[edit]
Born in Philadelphia, Loncar was raised in several different neighborhoods and its suburbs. Additionally, as a child, Loncar lived in Zemun, Belgrade, Serbia, then part of the Republic Yugoslavia. The start of the Yugoslav civil war forced his family to move back to the United States. Loncar is of Serbian, Italian, and Irish descent, and speaks fluent Serbian. As a youth, Loncar played several sports, including football and basketball, but fell in love with boxing, training at Joe Frazier's Gym in North Philadelphia, and James Shuler Memorial Boxing Gym in West Philadelphia.[4][5]
Loncar's father, Nikola Lonchar, is an inventor and locksmith – founder and the president of the Tesla Science Foundation. His mother, Maureen Loncar, is an artist and educator. Loncar has one younger sister, Alexandra (born 1988), and he is married to Arianna Price. The couple have one child, Elliott (born 2020).[4][6]
Education and legal career[edit]
Nicholas Loncar earned his high school diploma from Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, PA in 2004. He began his college career at Fordham University in the Bronx, New York, NY, but transferred to the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA, where he would earn a degree in Economics and Philosophy in 2008. While in college, Loncar was a varsity debater, traveling to compete in parliamentary debate tournaments across the country. While in law school at Villanova University School of Law in Villanova, PA, Loncar interned with the Defender Association of Philadelphia, the Federal Public Defender in Camden, NJ, and the San Diego County Alternate Public Defender.[3][4][5]
Upon graduation from Villanova Law in 2011, Loncar started his own criminal defense practice in Los Angeles. His practice focuses on representing clients charged with serious and violent felony offenses, mostly in Los Angeles County. Loncar has also handled matters in Orange County, San Diego County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, Ventura County, Kern County, and in federal courts. He has won dismissals and acquittals in cases involving very serious charges, including dozens of life sentences. In 2018, Mr. Loncar became licensed to practice in Texas.[7][8]
