Nick Charlton (born December 20, 1988) is an American college football coach who is currently the head coach for the Maine Black Bears of the Colonial Athletic Association. On December 21, 2018, he became the youngest head coach in NCAA Division I football when he was named to the post at the University of Maine.[1]
Biography[edit | edit source]
Charlton was born in Virginia Beach, Virginia.[2] He grew up in Salem, Massachusetts and was a quarterback for the football team at Salem High School.[3] He graduated with a philosophy degree from Boston College.[2] After graduation, Charlton began his coaching career at Boston College as a graduate assistant.[2] In 2015, he joined the Maine coaching staff, and in February 2018, he was named offensive coordinator.[2]
On December 21, 2018, the University of Maine announced that Charlton would become its next head football coach.[4]
