Norman Elliott Hutchins born (November 20, 1975) is a former professional baseball player in the California Angels, Tampa Bay Rays, and Colorado Rockies organizations. He also played independent baseball for ten years out of his eighteen-year professional career.

Early Life[edit]

Hutchins was born in White Plains, New York. He lived in Yonkers, New York most of his life. One of his best friends/ teammates in Lincoln High School (Yonkers NY) was Nealon Greene he was a College Football Player at Clemson and CFL Player.

Baseball Career[edit]

California Angels Organization[edit]

Hutchins was drafted in the second round of the 1994 MLB Draft by the California Angels. In his first season 1994 Norman Hutchins batted .191 in his first season which was rookie ball he had 7 R.B.I's. In his second season 1995 he batted .255 with 2 homeruns and 18 R.B.I's. In the 1996 season he batted .225 with 2 homeruns and 52 R.B.I's In 1997 Hutchins batted .289 with 15 Homeruns and 69 R.B.I'S. In 1998 he batted .305 with 10 HR'S and 53 R.B.I's. The next season which was 1998 Hutchins batted .305 with 10 HR's and 53 R.BI's. In his last season 1999 in the Angels Organization Hutchins batted .240 with 5 HR'S and 53 R.B.I's.

Colorado Rockies Organization[edit]

Hutchins was picked up by the Colorado Rockies before the 2000 season. In 2000 Hutchins batted .250 with 5 HR's and 33 R.B.I's which would be his 1 and only season in Colorado.

Tampa Bay Rays Organization[edit]

Hutchins was picked up by the Tampa Bay Rays before the 2001 season. In 2001 Hutchins decreased a little batting .227 with 9 HR's and 37 R.B.I's. This would be his only year in Tampa and last year in Minor League Baseball with a affiliated team.

Independent Baseball[edit]

For the next 10 years Hutchins was affiliated with multiple Independent baseball teams. In 2002 Hutchins batted .234 with 4 HR's and 29 RBI's Elmira Pioneers. In 2003 Hutchins played for multiple teams Pennsylvania Road Warriors, Somerset Patriots, and the Long Island Ducks combined with all three teams Hutchins batted .256 with 2 HR's and 26 R.B.I's. In 2004 Hutchins played for the Somerset Patriots Hutchins batted .262 with 9 HR's and 37 R.B.I's. The next year 2005 Hutchins played with the Lancaster Barnstormers, and Newark Bears, that year he batted .297 with 17 HR's and 70 R.B.I's probably his best year. In 2006 Hutchins played for the Bridgeport he batted .230 with 8 HR's and 43 RBI's. In the year 2007 Hutchins played for two teams the Atlantic League Road Warriors, and Long Islands Ducks, that year Hutchins batted .300 with 9 HR's and 63 R.BI's. The next year Hutchins 2008 played with the Long Beach Armanda, that year he batted .301 with 15 HR's and 55 R.BI's which was another great year. In 2009 he played with 4 teams the Edmenton Capitals, Linclon Salt Dogs, Chico Outlaws the Sioux City Explorers, that year Hutchins batted .305 with 7 HR's and 44 R.B.I's. In 2010 he did not play but in 2011 he played for the Rockland Boulders, he batted .295 with 3 HR's and 23 R.B.I's. In 2012 which was his final year he played for the Boulders and Bridgeport Bluefish, that year he played 20 games 15 with the Boulders and 5 with Bridgeport. He batted .153 with 0 HR's and 5 R.B.I's. In his career Hutchins batted .265 with 129 HR's and 726 R.B.I's he also had 302 Stolen Bases.
