Nuvoco Vistas Corp. Ltd. entered the Indian construction landscape through its cement and infrastructure solutions business. The company currently operates out of 6 cement plants and 65 ready mix concrete plants in India. It has premises located across all major cities and towns in India. Timeline[edit]

The Origin 1999:[edit]

  • The predecessor company was incorporated in 1999, as a 100% subsidiary of Lafarge SA France as Lafarge India Pvt. Ltd. The same year its initial operations were launched in Eastern India. Their operations extended with the acquisition of Tata Steel’s Cement Business.

Expansions in 2001-2006:[edit]

  • In 2001 the predecessor Lafarge India acquired Raymond Ltd’s cement division to extend its operations.
  • In 2002, the subsequent year, Nuvoco started manufacturing Concreto cement
  • As part of their future expansion plans, the first PPC1 mill was commissioned at the Jojobera Cement Plant in Jamshedpur.
  • To cope up with the expansion plans, the company commissioned the PPC2 mill for the Jojobera Cement Plant in Jamshedpur from Arasmeta Cement Plant in Chattisgarh in 2001.

Expansion & Recognition in 2007-2011:[edit]

  • In 2007 the Jojobera Cement Plant underwent an up-gradation to handle the increase in volume of output demanded. To support this, a VRM installation followed.
  • Production expanded to Bankura with the commissioning of the Mejia Cement Plant in 2009.
  • With further increase in market demand, Chattisgarh Sonadih Cement Plant Line 2 was added to its operations in 2009.
  • In 2008 the business developed further with acquisition of L&T’s ready-mix concrete business.
  • With a stable base for ready-mix concrete, they started supplying RMX for the construction of the highly anticipated Worid One Building in Mumbai, 2010.
  • In 2011, their ready-mix concrete products were also used to build the Akshardham Temple in Kolkata.

New Products and Expansions in 2013-2015:[edit]

  • The company spread out its operations in the Cement business in North India.
  • A new product was launched in 2013 for the institutional segment called Infracem.
  • Their Portland Slag Cement (PSG) variant was re-launched as Lafarge PSC with focus on strength, colour & finish.
  • New cement variant, Duraguard Microfiber, was launched in (2014), as the 1st ever Micro-Fiber Cement with focus on strength, finish and minimizing surface cracks.
  • Their ready-mix concrete solutions was further used to construct Nazrul Tirtha in Kolkata in 2013. The Agilia-self consolidating concrete variant was used in this case.  
  • In 2014 their ready-mix project base extended to the Jaipur Metro Railway project.
  • In 2015, the work at Jaipur Metro Railway project got them recognised for other keynote infrastructure projects like:   - Sonadih Railway Line Commissioning Project.   - Noida Metro Railway Project.

Transition to Nuvoco in 2016- 2017:[edit]

  • Lafarge India Private Limited was the Indian subsidiary of Lafarge S.A. which was engaged in the business of manufacturing diverse grades of quality cement.
  • In March 2016 Lafarge India Private Limited got converted into a Public Company and consequently the name of the Company was changed from Lafarge India Private Limited to "Lafarge India Limited".
