The old afghan is a cocktail originally made with rye whiskey, peach-rosemary syrup , and Noix de la Saint Jean wine.[1]
It was created specially by the barman of Maison Souquet in Paris in 2018 for the 40th birthday of former diplomat and current tech entrepreneur Romain Poirot-Lellig.[2] Maison Souquet named this cocktail owing to Poirot-Lellig's extensive posting in Afghanistan.[3]
