Old New Orleans Rum (Celebration Distillation) is the brand name of a line of rum and rum-based drinks produced in New Orleans, Louisiana. The company Celebration Distillation is the oldest rum distillery in the country.[1] The company started in 1995 when New Orleans artist James Michalopoulos brought back a French perfume still from Europe and got together other artists to create a locally-produced rum.[2] [3][4] The distillery was hit especially hard during Hurricane Katrina.[5][6] Since, their products have achieved acclaim in many circles.[7][8][9][10] In 2016, their "King Creole" 20 year blend garnered the highest ranking for rum ever given by the independent, impartial Beverage Tasting Institute.[11] In addition to rum, they produce a carbonated rum and ginger drink with a touch of cayenne called "Gingeroo."[12] The distillery offers public tours and hosts many private events.[13][14][15]
