Open General

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Open General is a turn-based strategy game for Microsoft Windows on the PC platform inspired by the original PC game Panzer General II published by Strategic Simulations Inc. (SSI) in 1997. The game was coded from scratch by Luis Guzman[1] as a platform for content created by the modding community for Panzer General II that developed in the years following the release of the original game.

As the original game was no longer being maintained by the publisher the creation of an entirely new game engine became necessary to handle changes to PC technology and the Microsoft Windows operating system. There are versions of the original Panzer General II available that do run on newer versions of Windows,[2] but Open General is still being actively developed as of the date of this article, May 1, 2018, and fully supports newer Windows operating systems as of this date.

It is important to note that while the game is based on Panzer General II, and the look and feel of the game will be familiar to anyone who has played Panzer General II, almost all of the content available for it is the original work of modders and fans. It also has many new features such as a vastly improved a.i. and many new options for the modders that were the reason for the creation of the game in the first place.[3]
