Orgies of Edo (残酷異常虐待物語 元禄女系図, Zankoku Ijo Gyakutai Monogatari Genroku Jokeizu) is a 1969 Japanese Ero guro and horror film directed by Teruo Ishii, who also co-wrote the film. It is an anthology movie narrating three stories of perverse or deviant sexuality in the late Genroku era.

The movie starts in a doctor's clinic (Gentatsu (Yoshida Teruo), where a young pregnant woman is dying. This first episode tells the tale of two poor sisters, O-Ito (Tachibana Masumi) and Kinu (Kiyama Kei), who sell dolls on a market for a living. Kinu is however prone to trouble, and has built up debt with a gang of wrongdoers. O-Ito is tricked by one of them, Hanji (Yamamoto Toyozo), to accept a loan to pay off her sister's debt, and as she falls in love with him, he asks that she sells herself to pay off the debt he has created himself to protect Kuni. As O-Ito passes from a whorehouse to a Geisha with lesser morals house, Hanji begins a sexual relationship with Kuni. O-Ito also attracts jealousy within her new found house from the other maidens. O-Ito, now pregnant, learns of this dishonour, and while Hanji is being beaten for lying, and stealing, she begs to be beaten instead. She dies from the beating at the doctor's clinic.

The second episode tells the story of O-Chise (Aoi Mitsuko), a wealthy merchant's daughter with a penchant for deformed or grotesque lovers (men with scars, midgets, a black man (who would look like a demon)...). In her hidden sexual adventures, she is aided by a servant, Chokichi (Ishihama Akira), who is madly in love with her. Distressed by the considered deviant sexual urges of his mistress, Chokichi seeks the help of the doctor to diagnose and cure his mistress. During her therapy it is learned that she was abducted at young age, and held captive by a deformed man (burned) who would beat her, and rape her. Being the daughter of a rich merchant, the man was found and killed (she herself takes part in his beating). The trauma has however left her scared, and she tries to recreate the experiences through "deformed" men. Chokichi chooses to deform himself with a hot poker, but in a sudden fit of rage and pain, and while trying to deform O-Chise with the poker, he stabs her in the jugular leading to her death.

The third and final episode tells the story of a Lord (Koike Asao), who takes great pleasure in other peoples' suffering (the episode opens with a peasant being killed by the Lord and his men). At a night time party in his castle, many dancers wearing red are made to be attacked by bulls whose horns are aflame. He sadistically enjoys their torture, trying to escape, while enthralling them to get undressed as the "colour red attracts the bulls". Those maidens who do not manage to escape are gored either by the bulls, or by the Lord shooting arrows. One maiden however seems to derive pleasure from the experience, and captivates the Lord's eye. This maiden, Mitsu (Obana Miki) soon attracts the Lord's favours. One of his numerous concubines however, O-Kon (Kagawa Yujie), is found to have had a sexual experience with her dogs, and in punishment, the Lord has her covered up in gold paint. She begs for her life by promising the Lord a new game he has never seen. He let's her live, and six months pass. One night while exasperated O-Kon has still not showcased this new game, the Lord, in the presence of the now pregnant Mitsu, pushes O-Kon to reveal the game. She informs him that Mitsu is in fact his daughter, whom he had had abandoned at birth, and which O-Kon had raised in a way to please the sexual urges of the Lord (sadomasochism). Learning that Mitsu, his daughter, is pregnant with his own child through incest, he kills O-Kon and demands of Gentatsu (the doctor) to remove the "wretched demon-child" from Mitsu's body. As opening a body is illegal in Japan, and although the doctor would greatly like to see for himself if the sketches from his Dutch medical journals are anatomically correct, he refuses to comply. The Lord, angered, attacks Mitsu and proclaims to remove the child himself. Gentatsu, hearing this, tells the lord he'll remove the baby from Mitsu. After having removed the baby and showing it to Mitsu, she dies. The lord demands Gentatsu to give him the baby so he can kill the "demon child". Gentatsu refuses, saying the child is innocent and deserves to live. This enrages the lord and he attacks the Doctor with his Wakizashi, and in accident knocks over a candalobra and sets his castle aflame. Gentatsu saves the baby, and the Lord dies in the fire, hauling Mitsu's lifeless body around. The doctor reflects on these different stories, and how the morals of his time have given him some peculiar experiences in life, hoping that the child would be protected from these.
