Oru kuppai kathai was released on 25th May 2018[1] [2] in India. The romantic drama revolves around a sanitary worker's life. Dance master Dinesh plays the lead role with directorial debut for Kaali Rangasamy. The movie reviews has been generally positive[3] with critically aclaimed reviewer at tamil talkies praising heavily for everyone involved in this movie project.[4]

Story[edit]
This story unfolds with Dinesh trying to find a suitable life partner through arranged marriage. He faces difficulties to find suitors due to his nature of his work. His relatives attempts to find suitors under the guise that Dinesh was a clerk at a government office. But Dinesh after finding this ploy, did not want to start a life based on lie and immediately discloses the truth to Manisha's father. Manisha Yadav's father impressed with Dinesh's honesty decides to marry her daughter to Dinesh without her daughter knowing the nature of Dinesh's job assuring life to get better over course of time. Within few months of marriage Manisha learns about Dinesh's sanitation work and furious of deciet she decides to reject Dinesh as a spouse. She was carrying three month at that time with life continuing for the married couple without a clear resolution. She delivers a girl baby and the couple later move to different house from the slum they used to live.
(Sujo Mathew) Arjun lives on the opposite flat of the newly moved couple and he is a helpful neighbor to the couple during some distressing life scenarios. Manisha idolizes arjun for his sweetness whereas continuing to maintain the spousal distance with Dinesh. During the events Manisha falls for Arjun and decides to run away with arjun to hosur with her infant child. Later she learnss that Arjun is a womanizer with low morals. Nevertheless Arjun is not coy to having one night stands with his co-workers in the same house of Manisha. Over time Arjun's father learns about this and he instructs Arjun and his friend Kishore to send Manisha and her child to chennai. But Kishore floats the idea of sharing manisha as his concubine and a Arjun does not object this suggestion. When Arjun leaves for his own betrothal, Kishore makes a move on manisha. Kishore plays the intimate videos of Arjun and manisha on his cell phone and blackmails manisha for her submission to bed. Manisha disagrees to this arrangement and Kishore tries to rape her in the kitchen. Manisha gets hold of a knife and stabs kishore on his back and lies on the floor exhausted.
Dinesh learns the whereabouts of Manisha through a friend and finally meets her at Hosur house to get his daughter to find a purpose for his life. After seeing Kishore lying on the floor and manisha explaining what happened he takes to blame for killing kishore and asks manisha to go back to their slum house until he returns from prison. Manisha finally has to survive continuing his husband's job of sanitation work. The cinematography and screen play was excellent in making this every day newspaper story into a movie story that was pleasant to watch.
