Ostensive act

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Ostensive act is defined both in a framework of ostensive-relevant theory of communication and cognitive approach to the process of interpretation.

In an ostensive-relevant theory of communication, an ostensive act is a vehicle of presupposition of the sender's intention to provide a relevant information. In this approach ostensive act triggers a process of inference in the mind of the receiver aimed at determining the relevance for that act.

In cognitive theory of interpretation, an ostensive act is described as any act of focus or intensifying the attention of receiver. This definition is a development of the definition formulated in a framework of ostensive-relevance theory of communication, because an act can be qualified as an ostensive by receiver even without the intention of sender. This approach allows to describe the process of interpretation of both intentional and not intentional behavior of a person. Sbd behavior can manifest sth without intention

act can be qualify by receiver as an ostensive one, even whithout such presupposition of the sender.
