Aleem with Snoop Dogg

Ousala Aleem (born July 3, 1982), also known as Prestley Snipes and FD, is a Platinum selling[1] and Grammy Award Nominated[2] songwriter,[3] filmmaker,[4] director,[5] producer,[6] entertainment manager,[7] photographer,[8] author and entrepreneur. As a filmmaker and director for over 15 years, Ousala has worked with some of music's top artists and has 4 RIAA certified gold and platinum plaques[9] to his credit. Ousala is best known for his independent film Criminals Gone Wild[10] and for introducing ILoveMakonnen[11][12][13][14] to the music scene.

Early life[edit | edit source]

Aleem was born in Brooklyn, New York. He started in the entertainment business through his uncles Taharqa Aleem[15] and Tunde Ra Aleem,[16] who have worked with Jimi Hendrix, New Kids On The Block, and Wu Tang Clan. In 2004, Ousala attended Brooklyn Public Network in Brooklyn, New York and released a public access show called FDTV.[17] In 2005, Ousala released his first independent film titled "FDTV: Volume One".[18][19] In 2007, Ousala released his second independent film titled Criminals Gone Wild.

Press[edit | edit source]

Ousala appeared on The O'Reilly Factor[20] on December 12, 2007 in response to his film Criminals Gone Wild. Ousala was also featured on several CNN segments regarding Criminals Gone Wild[21][22][23] in 2007. In 2014, while managing the career of ILoveMakonnen, Ousala was featured in a Billboard video segment called My City: Atlanta | The Juice.[24] Ousala was also featured in HBO series Vice (magazine)'s Noisey music documentary titled "Noisey Atlanta - The Psychedelic and Bizarre World of iLoveMakonnen".[25]

Entrepreneur[edit | edit source]

In September 2009, Aleem started web-based media company ILP Network, LLC and launched ilpvideo.com.[26] In 2015, during a WQHT radio interview, producer Sonny Digital credits ILP[27][28] as the website where he discovered ILoveMakonnen's music, which led to their 2014 collaboration on the Platinum selling and Grammy Awards Nominated Tuesday (ILoveMakonnen song), which later featured Drake.

Music industry[edit | edit source]

In November 2011, after responding to an email sent to ILP Video, Ousala signed iLoveMakonnen to a management agreement. By 2012, Ousala shot numerous impromptu music videos for iLoveMakonnen, which led to gaining the attention of producer Mike Will Made It. By 2013, Ousala secured a co-publishing deal for iLoveMakonnen with Mike Will Made It and Warner/Chappell Music. In 2014, Ousala secured iLoveMakonnen's record deal with Drake's OVO Sound/Warner Bros. Records. In 2014, Ousala moved to Los Angeles to sign a publishing deal as a songwriter with Warner/Chappell, after co-writing and publishing the hit song Tuesday (ILoveMakonnen song). Ousala has worked with many top producers and artists including Drake,[29] Mike Will Made It,[30] Zaytoven,[31] Polow Da Don, Metro Boomin, Sonny Digital, ILoveMakonnen,[32] 2 Chainz, Noah "40" Shebib, Cap1,[33] DJ Spinz, Dun Deal, Soulja Boy,[34] Shawty Lo,[35] Gucci Mane,[36] Waka Flocka Flame, Wayne Wonder, Rae Sremmurd, Trinidad James,[37] Safaree Samuels,[38] Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Neo Da Matrix and many more. He earned his first platinum plaque,[39] with Drake, while managing and developing ILoveMakonnen. In 2015, Ousala was nominated for a Grammy Award[40] for his co-writing,[41] production and publishing contribution on the Tuesday (ILoveMakonnen song). In 2016, Ousala was honored[42] at the 29th Annual ASCAP Rhythm And Soul Music Awards for Tuesday (ILoveMakonnen song), which was among the top ASCAP songs on the 2015 year-end charts. In 2016, Dutch DJ Burak Yeter released a cover of Tuesday (ILoveMakonnen song). Since then, Tuesday (Burak Yeter song) has become one of the top selling International Dance songs of 2016-2017 and has gone Diamond in France and Platinum in Austria, the Netherlands, Russia, Germany and Switzerland.
