Drones/UAVs for research[edit]

Outline India uses advanced technology to build detailed maps as an additional layer to qualitative and quantitative survey data. This can help enable:

  • Infrastructural mapping and planning:
  • Corroborating topographic & geospatial information
  • Contextualizing analysis of the drivers of inequalities
  • Visualization & improve planning of interventions

Track Your Metrics[edit]

Outline India is developing a self-reporting tool called 'Track Your Metrics' that seeks to enable NGOs and funders to build metrics, monitor projects and measure the impact of their work at ~ 0 unit cost. Track Your Metrics (TYM), is a platform coupled with an application developed for audit and impact metric building in the development sector. It is an attempt to automate audits via self-reported metrics. It is meant for extremely small NGOs that cannot afford audit firms and struggle to showcase growth and hence receive funding in the absence of data. At the other end, it enables big funders and donors with grantees spread out across different locations in tracking funds spent, developing macro datasets at 1/1000 the unit cost.

TYM offers the following features:

  • Survey Formulation: The web-platform offers pre-packaged surveys, comprising standardised, field tested surveys drawn from the works of sectoral leaders, international and national organisations, such as the UN, World Bank etc. Users can access existing questions from pre-packaged surveys after selecting their specific sector, sub-sector and indicators. The platform allows users to create their own unique surveys in order to assess the impact of their programs by selecting questions from the existing the question bank and adding their own questions to their surveys.
  • Data Collection: The survey can then be deployed onto the android application of Track Your Metrics. The app is currently available on android systems and can work without access to internet thereby enabling users to collect field data in remote offline areas.
  • Data Visualisation: Once the data has been collected, the app allows the user to deploy the survey back onto the web platform. A dashboard on the web platform allows for graphical representation of the data collected from multiple locations in the form of various charts and graphs.
  • Report Generation: The report generation template on the platform allows the user to create standardised reports using the graphs generated. These reports can be downloaded in a PDF format and thereafter sent to potential funders and donors.
