) is an upcoming Indian Malayalam-language political crime thriller film written and directed by Kamal K. M.[1] It stars Kunchako Boban, Vinayakan, Joju George, and Dileesh Pothan in the lead roles and features Prakash Raj, Jagadish, Indrans, Salim Kumar, Shine Tom Chacko, Kani Kusruti and many more in supporting roles.[2] Shan Mohammed edits the film while Sameer Thahir handles the cinematography. Vishnu Vijay composes the original songs and the background music.[3] The film is based on a real incident that took place in the year 1996, when four members of the Ayyankali Pada held the district collector of Palakkad as their hostage for about nine hours in his chamber at the Palakkad collectorate.[4][5] Mammootty will be making a cameo appearance in the film.[6]

Premise[edit]

Based on a real incident, the film follows four men of an unknown Maoist group fighting for the rights of the poor, holding a district collector hostage for nearly a full day keeping the whole police force and government at bay until their demands are fulfilled.[7][8]

Production[edit]

The film originally went on floors in May 22, 2019 and unofficially starting another one and a half years before but had to endure various hurdles before the entire shoot got completed. The shooting halted in the month of March 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak and lockdown in the state of Kerala. Almost 80 percent of the shooting was completed with Kochi as the location.[9] The last schedule of shooting restarted in the month of June 2021 and went on for two months.[10] The film's crew went to Hyderabad for a half day of shoot as permission for filming at the secretariat in Kerala was denied due to ongoing restrictions by the government of Kerala in the state.[11] The filming was wrapped on August 5, 2021 and it has entered the post-production stage.[12]

Release[edit]

The first look poster of the film was released in the month of January of 2021.[13] The official teaser of the film was released on August 21, 2021 on Thiruvonam day.[14]
