Parcel is a New York City-based last-mile and same-day delivery company founded in 2013.[1][2][3]
In September 2017, Parcel was acquired by Walmart.[4][5]

Parcel was founded in September 2013 by Harvard graduate Jesse Kaplan,[6][7] seeking to build a delivery company specifically for online shoppers.[8][9][10] In September 2014, Parcel raised $1 million in seed funding from venture capitalists and launched its package delivery service.[11][12][13] In 2015, Parcel raised an additional $975,000 to expand its operations,[14] and began delivering directly on behalf of online retailers as a last-mile carrier.[15][16]
Parcel has over 200 employees and built a proprietary technology platform to support its operation.[17][18][19] Parcel serves as the delivery partner of Walmart-owned Jet.com, offering same-day and three-hour delivery services in New York City.[20][21][22]
Acquisition[edit]
On September 29, 2017, Parcel was acquired by Walmart.[23][24][25] It joined acquisitions of Jet.com, Bonobos, ModCloth, and Moosejaw in Walmart's e-commerce M&A activity.[26][27][28]
The acquisition saw Walmart shares rise 1%.[29]
