Passage AI[edit | edit source]

Passage AI is a conversational Artificial Intelligence chatbot company headquartered in Mountain View, CA. It was founded in July 2016 by @WalmartLabs alumni Madhu Mathihalli and Ravi N. Raj and LinkedIn alumnus Mitul Tiwari.

Passage AI launched in September 2017 and offers businesses a chatbot-building tool.[1]. The tool utilizes Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing technologies, which can be deployed without the need to use AI coding[2]. [1] The technology is designed to understand a user’s intent.[2]

The company has raised $3 million in seed funding[3] from Engineering Capital, Storm Ventures, Seabed VC, Milliways Ventures, Array VC, Gunderson Dettmer, NeoTribe Ventures, Eleven Two Capital and individual angel investors.[4]

Product[edit | edit source]

Passage AI is a Natural Language Processing (NLP) platform used to create a conversational[5] interface for websites or businesses. Passage AI uses deep learning technologies such as Long short-term memory network to build an NLP engine that includes conversational AI building blocks[2]. These blocks have demonstrated the ability to understand natural language text and speech[2], to create a conversational interface capable of identifying intents[6], to extract pertinent information, to understand and respond to queries,[2] and to searching through data.[6]

Passage AI conversational interface can be deployed in three ways: as a chatbot on messaging platforms; as a chat experience on their website or mobile app; and as a skill on Amazon's Alexa platform, which is supported by more than 40 devices.

It is available on a variety of platforms, including Amazon Alexa, Android applications, Facebook Messenger, Google Home, iOS mobile applications, Slack, SMS text messaging, the World Wide Web and WeChat.
