Performance Academies

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Performance Academies is a public charter school with 12 schools across the state of Ohio. Locations are in the cities of Columbus, Trotwood, Cincinnati, Middletown, Springfield, Toledo, and Cleveland. The schools are legally public but privately owned and contracted by the state of Ohio. They are one of the many organizations that, as of 2014, educated 120,000 students or about 7% of the state's public school students.[1] Like other charters, Performance Academies enrolls students based upon a lottery system.[2] They are known for uncommon core curriculum classes such as tennis and Tae Kwon Do.[3]

Dr. Myrrha Satow[edit]

Performance Academies was founded by Dr. Myrrha Satow in Columbus, OH in 2004.[4] Dr. Satow commonly emphasizes the importance of school choice in public education, suggesting it creates more opportunity and better quality education, quoting: “School choice is important because every child deserves a quality education, and every child should have that option regardless of where they live.”[5] She has attended the Ohio State Advisory Panel For Exceptional Children.[6]
