Phi Alpha Sigma Medical Fraternity (ΦΑΣ) was founded April 9, 1888 at the Bellevue Hospital in New York City by H. A. Hanbold, Austin Flint, Jr., N. B. Van Etten, and Frank Hollister.[1][2] It was established on the basis of an older organization called Kappa Delta Phi.

The fraternity exists today as a single chapter located at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Chartered in 1899 it was the first fraternity at Jefferson Medical College.[3]

It currently occupies a house located at 313 S. 10th Street in Philadelphia.

Symbols[edit]

The badge is a winged Caduceus of gold displaying the letters ΦΑΣ in platinum on the rod between the serpents.[2]
