Phillip Jarrell (born December 2, 1952 in Ft. Jackson, S.C.) is an American songwriter, designer, and fine art producer and photographer. He co-wrote the Billboard number one hit song Torn Between Two Lovers with Peter Yarrow, from Peter, Paul and Mary, and sung by Mary McGregor. Since 2020, after a 40 year hiatus, he wrote and released the singles "Time Traveler Stories", "Love is Better Than Gold (Money) and "Life Has Got To Be Better".

Fashion[edit]

Phillip relocated to Shanghai in 2002, and co-founded 5th Avenue Photography Studio. He has since shot for major celebrities such as The Rolling Stones, Celine Dion, Kylie Minogue, Christina Aguilera, among others. He also covered fashion events by Salvatore Ferragamo[4].

In 2016 Phillip Jarrell shot the China ad campaign and global PR for the 1st ever Chinese production of The Lion King for Shanghai Disney Resort[5].

Fine art and photography[edit]

Apart from being a fashion and music photographer, Phillip also has created a fine art show, “The Yoke of Beauty, a Fine Art Photography Exhibition".[6]

Phillip Jarrell's Rock and Roll Art Journey, was exhibited at the Zhu Jia Jiao Humanistic Museum, in Shanghai, China in 2016.[7]

Jarrell Guitars[edit]

Phillip Jarrell has also created a brand of musical instruments, Jarrell Guitars. His guitars are coveted by artist including Madonna’s guitarist, Monte Pittman (for whom he produced a series of three Monte Pittman Signature guitars[8]. ), the lead guitarist for the legendary act King Diamond, Mike Wead (for whom he produced the JV-1 Mike Wead V signature guitar[9], among others.

Endorsed artist include Mac McAnally (member of the Jimmy Buffet Band and winner of CMA’s “Musician of the Year” for an unprecedented 10 years span), Peter Mayer (also from the Jimmy Buffett Band), Steve Postell (David Crosby), Jeff Pevar (Ricky Lee Jones), Simon Johansson (Wolf), and Tomás Doncker just to name just a few.
