Pierre Vasarely, is born on October 4, 1960 in Paris, is the President of the Fondation Vasarely.

Biography[edit]

Pierre Vasarely is the only son of Geneviève Dupin (Paris 1935) and Jean-Pierre Vasarely, known as Yvaral, (Paris 1934 - Paris 2002). Only grandson of Klára Spinner (Budapest 1909 - Annet-sur-Marne 1990) and of Gyözö Vásárhelyi, known as Victor Vasarely (Pécs 1906 - Paris 1997), he was born on October 4, 1960 in Paris under the name of Pierre, Victor, Serge Vasarhelyi.

He studied in the city of Aix-en-Provence and graduated in political science (IEP d'Aix, 1984).

At the express request of his grandparents, he was associated for fifteen years in the administrative and cultural life of the Institution recognized as being of public utility in 1971.

He became a member of the French Union of Experts, notably as a specialist in Op Art and the work of Victor Vasarely in 2003.

He became president of the Vasarely Foundation on July 21, 2009.

He was made Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres on July 4, 2017: the badges were given to him by Frédéric Mitterrand, former Minister of Culture.
