Pin-back Button Maker

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

A Pin-back Button Maker or Button assembler is used to complete the construction of a Pin-back Button, a Pin-back button Maker can also be called a Pin-Back Badge Maker in the United Kingdom, India, New Zealand and Australia These two terms are often abbreviated to "Button Maker" or "Badge Maker".

A Pin-back Button Maker is usually constructed of steel but can be made of cast iron or plastic. A piece of paper with suitable artwork can be trapped between two pieces of tinplate and covered with a clear plastic sheet, usually boPET. To ensure all four pieces are held together firmly a lever or handle on the Pin-back button maker is pressed down to deform one of the pieces of tinplate to clamp securely the other three components. The desired result is that the piece of paper with the artwork can be viewed through the clear plastic cover, the clamped badge can now have attached a separate pin component, to allow the badge to be attached to clothing. Some versions of a badge maker have the pin threaded through the back piece of the badge.
