PlayHard GiveBack (PHGB) is a one-for-one trail-mix company based out of Ketchum ID, USA. The startup gives back in two ways: For every bag sold, one meal is donated within the US.[1][2] Through its partnership with Hope Sports, PHGB annually brings professional athletes to Mexico to build houses for those in need.[3][4][5][2]

Product[edit]

GiveBack Snacks™ are all-natural, gluten-free trail mixes and bars which come in three flavors: Blueberry Antioxidant, Expresso Energy, and Peanut Butter Protein.[6][7]

Overview[edit]

Spencer Brendel and Jeff Brendel co-founded PlayHard GiveBack in 2013.[8] Spencer Brendel is a graduate from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota where he played NCAA hockey.[8][9] Jeff Brendel, his father, has been an entrepreneur since college, having been involved in the creation of numerous businesses throughout his life.[10] PlayHard GiveBack connects to the public through athlete ambassadors. Current and previous athlete ambassadors include Loni Unser, Lexi duPont, Alec Voorhees, Philipp Juhn, Julian Carr, Gavin McClurg, Cody Barnhill, Francesca Weikert, Guy East, Mckenna Peterson, Brolin Mawejje, Carter Snow, Aniela Gottwald, Luke Hinz, Erika Vikander, and Meaghann Gaffney.[11]

Story and Mission[edit]

PlayHard GiveBack was created in a vintage Winnebago while Spencer and his father were on a road trip across California.[2][8] Spencer, being an athlete himself, started PHGB to work with athletes in catalyzing social change.[2][8][6][7][12]
