About

Pokeguide provides Subway information such as first train and last train information, the fare, exit information and route information from any station to another station in Hong Kong, Taipei and San Francisco.  It also tells the car and door to board the train from user’s current station to destination which shows the path to escalators. The app has multiple modes such as accessibility-friendly mode and easy mode.[1][2] The app also gives information about leisure activities, cuisine and shop discounts nearby users' location. [3]

The AR navigation allows user to input the destination, and shows them directions via showing arrows on screen to follow, allowing user to reach the destination.

History

Pokeguide was developed by Chinese brothers Brian Hui and Andre Hui in 2014 after careful research of the MTR system in Hong Kong.[4] They noticed the inconvenience which Hong Kongers and tourists faced while travelling in MTR, which is the subway in Hong Kong.  Locals and tourists often were at the wrong end of the train when they alighted and had to walk a lot to their exits and it would be time consuming.[5] [6]Therefore they aimed to create an app that would tell users the car and door to board the train from so that when they alight, the escalators are right ahead of them.

In 2016, Pokeguide launched the full version in Hong Kong. It was awarded with Gold Award at the Hong Kong ICT Awards (Best Smart Hong Kong). It also got ranked 1st in iOS Navigation category and got listed in Top 10 for iOS free app.

In the beginning of 2017, Pokeguide got over 100,000 downloads. It joined the AppWorks Accelerator Program in Taiwan, launched the accessibility-friendly and VR panorama function. After studying and creating data set from the Taipei MRT and San Francisco BART, Pokeguide launched the Taipei and San Francisco version in the app.[7]

In 2018, it launched the AR Navigation function which is available worldwide.[8]Pokeguide ranked 2nd in Android Travel & Local category, won the Gold Award once again at the Hong Kong ICT Awards (Smart Mobility) and reached the Finals of the Pitch Battle at the Tech in Asia 2018.[9]
